A few remnants from this never-ending snowday, or as we like to call it in these parts, SNOWPOCOLYPSE 2010. I have spent the last week trapped indoors, sleeping, eating, and trying to keep myself entertained so as not to catch cabin fever. The upside of Snowpocolypse 2010 is obviously no class or responsibility of any kind, but its also been great for everyone on campus to bond. We all survived it together!

But seriously, we need to get back to life...like now.

This is a beautiful storybook editorial from Annie Leibovitz, but the second I saw it I thought, "hasn't Annie Leibovitz done this exact ed before with Kate Moss and P Diddy?" And it turns out she did, back in 1999 when P Diddy was still Puffy-Its called Puffy Takes Paris and its a little ridiculous but the shots of Kate Moss are gorgeous. Somehow I just don't buy P Diddy or Puffy as a love interest.

I spent my day yesterday wandering around D.C with Meredith and exploring the American History Museum and the Natural History Museum. I've always preferred the Museum of Natural History, but I do love the random pop culture artifacts at the American History Museum (Dorothy's ruby slippers?)

Anyways we spent a little time fiddling around in the kids section, then gazing at gorgeous gowns in the First Ladies dress exhibit, a good bit in the minerals and gemstones show-I will always find those crystals and jewels amazing, and then we wandered over to Georgetown where we mooned over million dollar townhouses and downed a giant milkshake. Overall a day well spent. Plus we got the added bonus of a little ride through the gorgeous tree tunnel of the George Washington Memorial Parkway where we stopped for a quick photo op at one of the scenic rest stops.

I'm spending my last few days before school seeing friends who I won't see for many months and gorging on junk food and junk tv- oh and maybe fitting in some organizing, cleaning and packing...maybe.

Today I had the urge to actually get dressed.

I have spent a considerable amount of time over this winter break in sweats and pajamas, its about time to get back to some sort of routine that involves real clothes. I've been thinking about the Isabel Marant collection from Fall 09 ever since I re-discovered these harem pants I bought last winter and I actually think that I pulled the look off quite well. Maybe it would have been a little better with some over the knee boots but we work with what we have. I feel quite accomplished when I make an outfit out of pieces in my wardrobe that don't get as much use and I have to say that almost every piece I wore today falls into the realm of little wear. Yay for shopping in your own closet-it can be the best boutique!

Besides actually taking some legitimate photographs for my blog today, I also headed to target where I browsed cheap dvds, looked through the remnants of the Rodarte collection and ended up buying some bright cherry red angora socks and a pack of gum. Oh boy. I plan on wearing the socks with my oxfords aka my little man shoes. Maybe tomorrow will be the day?

I've been dreaming of snowy blonde hair lately. A few years back (somewhere around 12th grade) I said that I would never dye my hair again because it never looks the same color as it did before it was dyed, but I figure my hair is changing colors on its own (hair is suppose to change color and texture every 7 years or something), so maybe I should just take control of my shade myself.

My only worry is the upkeep of such a light shade of hair. I have never professionally dyed my hair, it was always out of a box, but for something so drastic I would not do it myself in the bathroom sink. I just worry that I will look ridiculous when I finally decide to let the color grow out. I guess by my calculations I will probably be ready to chop my hair off again by the time I'm ready for the dye to grow out. Should I take the plunge?

Just a bunch of random photos I took while trying to make my room look organized. I figured there was a lot of stuff I have acquired while abroad and since the holiday season that I forgot to show on the blog so here they are.

First off is my new favorite hat! I bought it in the central market in Florence-I had been looking for an ear-flap fur hat like that one since I spotted it on Ashley Olsen in like 2005. It is so warm, but the only problem is that I can't hear a thing around me when I am wearing it...whoops! Then I've been trying to organize my room slowly but surely. I kind of gave up on unpacking and decorating before leaving for Italy so it is still a big mess. I got the idea to hang the necklaces on the wall from a room on the Selby website. Such a good idea-why let all those beautiful necklaces sit in a box where you can't see them? Theres no sense in that.

The bag with the maroon python detail is a vintage find from Italy. I spent so much time abroad scouring vintage stores for the perfect bag and shoes and by the last day I had found both. It was love at first sight with this bag. The only improvement for me would be if it had a longer strap as well as the short one; I am all about cross body bags because of their comfort.

The little pouch bags are a sort of collection I have started recently. I adore small purses and while they aren't always right for all occasions they are perfect for going out at night when you don't need much. I love the drawstring format. I bought the two green bags in Florence-the dark green suede at the market and the round one with the tassels at a leather store. The two red ones were gifted to me by my grandmother. And finally the more detailed shot shows a hand-printed velvet bag that I got in Venice. It is so tiny and sweet and the peachy-blush hue is so gorgeous in person. I found it at this amazing store that sold all sorts of hand printed velvet cushions, shawls, bags etc and hand-printed chandeliers as well.

Of course many of you recognize the Christopher Kane x Topshop alligator dress. I scored that when I went to Topshop in New York last weekend, and it was selling for only $20! I couldn't believe my luck :)

Final picture is a little episode of whats in my bag...It is a Dooney and Bourke bag from Ebay with a vintage leopard scarf. Then the usual: ipod, phone, hello kitty wallet and change purse, floss (?), hairclip, giftcards from Christmas, pen, hand cream, red lipstick, and my newly organized keys with a tassel keychain!

We had a little spinach/artichoke pizza from ARTICHOKE to kick off the day.

After pizza we headed to the MET to check out the amazing Robert Frank exhibit which I have been waiting to see since early fall! It was incredible, despite the insane crowds in the museum. I am not a crowd person.

Couldn't go to Soho without stopping in at Baked by Melissa. I love the Mint Chocolate Chip and Oreo cupcakes!

Possibly the best thing of the entire trip....we got to see WICKED! Finally! It was fantastic.

My weekend in New York was great! I have much more to post about the past week's festivities and New Years and such, so stay tuned.

Christmas this year was wonderful. After last week's blizzard we were left with a white Christmas! The first white Christmas I can remember since I was about 5. The tree was also abundant with great gifts, the fire was roaring, I took a long and pleasant nap in the middle of the day and then awoke to the smell of roast beef and quiche in the oven, and then finally family came over and we had an delicious home cooked feast. Thanks for everything, Mom!

I got some amazing gifts this year :) The biggie being this new Bliss Lau body chain which I am truly in love with. Its got a nice weight to it and it hangs beautifully. I love the vest-like quality to it. I just want to wear it with everything! The past couple nights I've been channeling this sort of preppy/punky look. The fully buttoned up dress shirt paired with the ripped tights and the old slip dress seemed casual, comfortable and festive to me without screaming Christmas. Plus the nose ring and body chain add a sort of punk twist. I also received some plain white high-top converse, funky tights, two gorgeous photography books that I wanted, a Jacob Black action figure (HAHA, Mom) and French macarons!

What a good Christmas!

Since I've spent the last 3 months in Italy, surrounded by high fashion in Milan and amazing leather in Florence I have developed a few major bag crushes. To say that they are unrequited would be an understatement considering at least one has a waitlist and another is around $3000, but hey, you can't help what your attracted to, and I am attracted to very very VERY expensive purses.

Here they are for your viewing pleasure...

The classic Hermes Kelly bag. I prefer the smaller Kelly to the Birkin-I love that it has an additional cross-body strap! They have tons of amazing leather knockoffs here in Florence and I have been majorly tempted to buy one.

The new Prada Saffiano bag. I love the burgandy color and the addition of the longer strap as well...its perfect for everyday wear-which is what I would need if I was going to spend big bucks on a bag.

Finally, last but not least, the Fendi Peekaboo bag. Fendi always has many variations on one bag and these two versions are my top favorites(though I do love the tobacco brown version as well). This is such a gorgeous bag! I love the design of it and the way it hangs on your arm. It kind of has the feel of the Kelly or the Birkin but with a softer structure to it. Thats one of my only arguments with the Hermes bags-they are a little too structured, I think I would want to buy one that was vintage or a little ruffed up.

Life has been crazy lately. Crazy good. Crazy bad. Crazy crazy. Just so much is going on now and I can't believe I'm only in Florence for another month or so. I'm going to miss it so much! But it will be nice to get back to having reliable internet so that I can whip this blog back into shape!

Until then, heres what I have to share.

Just had my fall break where my family came to visit.
Got to see Venice; a beautiful city with lots of art and amazing streets to wander.
I've been seriously pigging out lately-lots of gelato! its just so good!
I found an amazing vintage flea market last week that sells some amazing fur collars, great jewelry and handbags! I have to go find it again so I can purchase some fur to wear with my green cargo jacket.
Still looking for the perfect loafers and boots...there are just too many options for leather in Italy.
My roommate Meredith comes to visit next week! I can't wait to show her around Florence :)
Next weekend is my trip to Amsterdam with my roommates and Meredith...I can't wait to see the Van Gogh museum and eat good food and bike around the city!
2 weeks until New Moon comes out! Sadly I can't see it until I return to the states.
I am seriously obsessed with Glee! The music is on repeat on my ipod.
Trying to get over this cold before the weekend starts...wish me luck :)

So posting has considerably slowed down on my blog and I do apologize, I'm trying to get back into the swing of things, life just gets in the way of blogging sometimes :)

Heres my current hit list

-searching endlessly for the perfect vintage loafers! I am totally not a loafer kind of girl at first sight, but being here in Florence and witnessing all the perfectly chic and preppy women riding there bicycles in their loafers and sundresses makes me hopeful that maybe I can pull off a little preppy twist in my otherwise (currently) grungey wardrobe.

-scouring vintage and thrift shops for leather purses, slip dresses, faux fur coats and funky accessories- I've already picked up two gorgeous vintage mini dresses (I will post pictures soon!)-Florence seriously has some of the best vintage stores I've ever seen!

-enjoying my time just wandering the city and photographing. I love the idea of keeping a visual notebook. Using my camera to take notes on my life here. Photographing anything and everything that appeals to me and that memorializes my time here.

-learning how to cook delicious Italian food. My roommates here spoil me by cooking amazing food for me all the time, so its about time that I contribute something of my own besides buying the wine. I did however come up with a delicious cocktail (suited for brunch more than anything)- its a mamosa of champagne and lichee juice. So good!

-thinking about travelling to Sienna for a day trip next weekend. Theres a show of Francesca Woodman's photography. She has fast become one of my favorites! If you don't know her work I suggest you look her up pronto. Its made up of beautifully dreamy and haunting images of the human figure.

So I've been a very absent blogger lately, but like I said I have good reason to be a little frazzled. Being in a new city, country, continent. Not being able to speak the language. It all adds up to madness on my end. But here is my first real post from Florence.

Heres whats on my mind.

Here I am in Florence!

Still reeling from the death of John Hughes. I had always hoped that he would come out of hibernation sometime and start writing/directing teen movies again. He really was the greatest. I mean he came up with Baby's Day Out, probably my favorite movie as a child, and he created Duckie! Enough said.

Yes I do watch that ABC family show, Make it or break it, and I'm not ashamed of it...well not too ashamed at least. The boys are so adorable!

Remember when Rachel Leigh Cook was the "anti-cool" cool girl? Well I remember and I think she's still all that.

A little fall outerwear inspiration. I just bought a very similar coat to Behati Prinsloo's.

I love the new crop of teen stars featured in this month's Teen Vogue ( with Taylor Lautner on the cover). Taylor Lautner is playing my favorite character from the Twilight Series, but even if he wasn't I would still like him. He's all smiles and it puts me in a good mood.

I just found out about Dead Man's Bones and this song has been playing on repeat everyday. I like the idea of a band with a real theme. Spooky music with a hint of children's recital. Plus it doesn't hurt that Ryan Gosling makes up half of the band.

I'm missing Skins series 1, especially Cassie and Sid! They need to show up in the new series, pronto! WOW, that would be LOVELY.

Old school Ashely Olsen when she was a little grungier and much less minimalistic. Its fascinating to witness her stylistic evolution. I just found a ear-flap hat very similar to Ashely's (on the left) at the central market in Florence. I've been searching for that hat since I first saw this picture in like 2005.

I love how she wore her pearldrop necklace backwards.

I'm thinking of doing some fashion photography while I'm here in Florence. Richard Avedon's work was totally groundbreaking. The hints of the city are a wonderful accent to the clothes.

I love the idea of using the camera as a sort of notebook or journal. A visual description of day to day life. Lina Scheynus does that particularly well. She has some very intimate and personal moments on film. I hope to document my life in Italy in a similar way.

Shopping has been on my brain since arriving in Rome and being met by a giant Gucci billboard with a 10 foot tall Raquel Zimmerman on it. I have seen tons of things I would love to purchase, however so far I have been restraining myself. After all it has only been a week since I arrived. There is so much more to see. However there is a stand in the central market full of beautiful vintage clothing including a completely righteous fringed leather jacket and about 10 bags I want in my closet. I think a purchase from there will be a necessity before leaving. I've also spotted some very Chloe Fall 2009-esque ankle boots.

On my mind clothes wise for fall/winter are sturdy boots(United Colors of Benneton), faux fur leopard coats(Urban Outfitters), lacey dresses, cable knit tights, things that lace-up, lots of jewelry, and bright colored lips.

So clearly there has been a major slowdown with posts as of late, but I assure you all that there is a good reason. I've moved to Florence! I will be living here for the next 4 months; studying art, taking tons of photographs, eating my weight in pizza and gelato and enjoying the tuscan countryside and all that Europe has to offer. I just yesterday got my internet situation squared away, however the internet here is a little slow so its going to take me a few days to figure out the best way to post. Over the years while perusing my monthly magazines I have come to cherish those, some would say pesky, ads that fill up the magazine. I almost love the ads as much as I love the editorial content. Many brands and designers begin to form styles with their ads that change ever so slightly each season while still remaining true to the overall message of the brand. The ads become a series that I look forward to the return of each fall and spring. I regularly follow Dolce and Gabbana, Marc Jacobs, Nina Ricci, Gucci, Juicy Couture and more.

Now Juicy Couture may seem an odd addition to that list of high flyers, but really I feel the above images say it all. I have never been a real buyer of the Juicy Couture brand, of course I went through that stage where I wanted the velour sweatpants with 'juicy' on the ass, but I thankfully grew out of that. Despite not being a Juicy wearer, Juicy Couture still manages to attract me every season with their ads. They always use the stunning Lisa Cant, which seems like it could get boring, however it never does. They stick to a formula, preppy, bright, happy, with a tinge of darkness. Whether it be some tattooed boys decked out in millions of Juicy chains, or darker tones in the palette. I like their consistency and their playfulness. And it does make me want to check out an actual Juicy Couture store each season. Those stripey tights? The fur coats? Maybe Juicy is more than velour.

My flying hair kind of reminded me of the flutter of the butterfly's wings. I love butterflies. They are just lovely.

Speaking of lovely. I finally saw (500) Days of Summer. Joseph Gordon Levitt was just the right actor to portray a lovesick greeting card writer. And Zooey Deschanel IS Summer. It was a major hit in my book. The soundtrack is really incredible too, I just got it on my itunes and have been listening to it nonstop. An added bonus in the movie is both Zooey Deschanel and JGL singing karaoke. Zooey Deschanel has a beautiful voice.

The earlier part of my day was spent shopping for some fall clothing essentials for Florence. I hit up Gap and Urban Outfitters and purchased some really great pieces! I will most definitely post in the next few days. :)

Elizabeth and Hank Lacy

I love the smell of my grandmother's apartment. It is one of those scents that never changes. Sometimes this scent pops up in very random places and I think, I know exactly what that reminds me of. Its familiar and pleasant and brings back a lot of memories of trips to Florida, of all you can eat pancakes, of cans of giant black olives and Vernor's ginger ale and Chinese meals where my grandfather conversed with the waiters in Chinese. It is such a comfort to sit in this memory-filled apartment and breathe in this scent for a few days before returning to a house that is so new it doesn't have it's own scent yet.

Over the past few days whilst staying at my grandmother's I have been able to learn a lot about all the beautiful pieces of furniture, jewelry, art etc that my grandma has collected over her 91 years. I have flipped through dozens of old photo albums, and envelopes and starred down each and every picture frame on the walls and on tabletops until they were all imprinted on my brain. I have seen my mother in a bikini circa 1978, my uncles sporting what can only be referred to as "major" facial hair, myself around age 1 in giant sunglasses and a hot pink leg cast, and my grandparents galevanting around Asia, Europe, North America, South America, Africa and Australia. Its wondrous to see photographs of the times before you were alive. Its exciting to think about what your family was like and what they were experiencing in the 50's, 60's, 70's, 80's before you were even a blip on their radar. Sometimes I wish I could go experience it all first hand as a figure in the background, but then having the photographs in front of me and hearing my grandmother's account first hand is even better. I know them now, and I know them through those old prints, and from the words of my family and I can just imagine how amazing it all was to live through.

Moments like these make me realize what an incredible gift photography is. It shows its importance in an infinite amount of ways, and I am happy to be a part of something like that. Even if at the end of my run my photographs are only meaningful to my family.

I love, no, I adore, looking through old family albums. Its like finding a crown jewel when I come across an old photograph of my mother from the 70's. Those giant eyeglasses. The permed hair. The cropped tops and bell bottoms. The bohemian dresses. I just love it all.

Oh, and finding the hilarious photographs of my bearded grandfather and mustacheoed uncles is pure joy. Intense mustaches really need to make a comeback.

So when I was in New York this past weekend at Topshop I spotted the one and only Scout Willis. I've always thought the Willis girls, particularly Tallulah and Scout, were very welled dressed ladies and I was proved right upon seeing Scout up close. She was dressed almost exactly the same as in the first photograph, accompanied by the purse and fur tail thingy in the 5th picture and a cute little white sailor hat. I definitely would categorize her style as quirky and fun. She mixes feminine and masculine details in with classic pieces, ie: tshirts, blazers, ballet flats etc. I absolutely adore her blush colored feather skirt-I spotted it in Topshop during my trip and was overcome with lust.

My attempts at photographing the streetstyle. Everywhere I turned was another emaculately dressed female.

So where to begin with this weekend? The photographs are more or less in the right sequence of events of my weekend. Friday I drove up to New Jersey to visit my roommates who I have missed like an absent limb. They are lovely and I had the best time just bouncing around Soho with them.

Of course I suggested we take the trip to the city for some Topshop loving. It was my first time setting foot in the store and my god was the wind knocked out of me. First it was the sheer abundance of people, and extremely chic people at that, and then it was the overflow of amazing clothes, next it was the pricetags, and finally it was the task of waiting in line to try on as many clothes as my brain would allow me to handle. I don't think I really realized that going to the lone American Topshop on a saturday in the summer was a bad idea. Oh well. I didn't end up buying anything in the end, I was too overwhelmed, but if I make it back there before September I think I will go alone and browse for a few hours when I really have time to appreciate everything.

After our visit to Topshop my roomies and I rounded the block only to discover that the amazing cupcake stand frequented by Gennie of Maison des Reveries was right there! I was pretty exstatic after that realization and proceeded to buy 12 cupcakes :) Of course I split them with my roomie, Sami, but still, it was like some cupcake monster took over. They were probably the best cupcakes I have ever had. Seriously, better than Magnolia Bakery. I especially loved pb+j and cookie dough.

After NYC I drove down to visit some other friends in central NJ and spent the night laughing with friends and taking pictures. Next day was recovery from exhaustion and I pretty much slept off and on until 5:30, watching an America's Next Best Dance Crew marathon in between naps. It was wondrous. My friends and I caught Funny People Sunday night, but I have to say that I was let down. It re-inforced my dislike of Adam Sandler...still love Jason Schwartzman and Seth Rogen though.

I managed to get back home in record time (my lead foot I guess) and spent today reading Teen Vogue, uploading pictures, and baking the most delicious mac'n'cheese ever. YUM YUM YUM. Its been a good weekend for my stomach :)

One of the many great movies I have seen recently is a little movie called Gardens of the Night. The movie originally caught my eye because of the subject matter. I thought it sounded like an interesting perspective; to follow two young children, both kidnapped around the same time, as they grow up on the street and kind of form their own family after they are taken from their parents.

Needless to say the movie was sad, but the movie was also beautiful and soulful and engaging. The young actors flawlessly portrayed two abandoned children hanging on for dear life.

After the first half, Gardens jumped ahead until the two kids were teenagers growing up on the streets of San Diego in the 80s. The acting was still good, but weirdly the thing that caught my eye more here was the fashion. Sometimes you find inspiration in the strangest of places.

The main character, Leslie, had a pretty expansive wardrobe for a girl on the street...but ignoring that point it was very thrown together and carefree. Think California skater meets bohemian hitchhiker. Lots of tangled delicate chain necklaces, chunky rings, dirty waves of blonde hair, cut off cargo shorts, colorful suede booties, studded leather jackets, cut-up muscle tees and lacy mini dresses.

Sweetest strawberries ever. The perfect snack!

There is little that makes me happier than driving down the highway with the windows down and the oldies station blasting. I can't help but smile and laugh out loud. And when I realize I'm uncontrollably smiling because of some silly song fitting that moment so perfectly, its kind of like bliss.

Anyways my point about the whole song fitting a moment or time or season is basically me saying that 105.9 was playing the perfect line-up of summer songs. This morning I was indeed driving down a tree-tunneled highway with the windows down, radio blasting (probably too loud), sunny skies with puffy clouds above me, and the beach boys came on the radio. Probably the most quintessential summer band ever. I can't even think of a Beach Boys song that doesn't mention beaches, California, sunshine, bikinis, you get the picture. "California Girls" was followed by Frankie Valli's "Grease" and then "You Can't Hurry Love" by The Supremes. They just fit this summer so well...oldies have these sugary sweet melodies and lyrics; they remind me of melting ice cream, and lemonade stands and balloons, and sock hops! Sweet and bubbly music puts me in the best mood :)

I braved an army of mosquitoes to get these photographs. I think my legs got the worst of the bites yet again.

Also there is a little bit of an image overload here. It's hard to get the right shot when you're both in front of and behind the lens so to speak. Hopefully as time goes on I can perfect the art of outfit shots!

Ultimately I would like to shoot other people as well, however not too many of my friends are around this summer... the curse of having mismatched schedules I guess. This weekend however a few friends are coming to visit so I hope to get some good shots! Fashion isn't really their thing, but that doesn't matter much in our friendship. In fact I have little in common interest-wise with many of my very best friends. Hmmm, I wonder what that says?

Now I think its time for me to sit down and watch this weeks True Blood! Maybe "Vampire Bill" (I can't help but laugh when I say that in my head) will go on a shopping spree at forever 21 again....

I went into D.C. today for a tapas dinner and ice cream. Apparently our restaurant was a block away from a jonas brother's concert. It was a madhouse. My sister and I were surrounded by tween girls and their mothers sporting 'I <3> brothers' tshirts and holding signs reading " I'll be your lovebug Joe"...I mean I love me some Jonas, but it just made me fear for my life. I give so much credit to the parents who brave tween concerts for the sake of their children. They are stronger and braver than I.

I really need some new sandals...I love these JCs, but I want something a little more intense I think.

I had a nice day at the town festival...lots of fried dough was ingested, along with some super sweet lemonade (clearly not fresh to my dismay) and gourmet banana and mango gelato. I've discovered that fairs always bring out: 1. adorable kids sporting fully painted tiger faces 2. dogs of all shapes and sizes panting from their fur coats 3. sausage, funnel cake, lemonade, blooming onions, etc 4. heinous prices for the sausage, funnel cake, lemonade, blooming onion, etc, and finally, 5. some great jewelry and handcrafts.

I was lucky enough to spot some new-age metal (maybe pewter) pendant jewelry at the festival and I picked up this ferocious claw necklace.

The only thing that could be improved upon for this festival would be non-childsized rides..I mean the ferris wheel was about my height. Not much of a view :(

Today was a full day for me; a rarity during these summer months.

I started the day early and met up at starbucks for coffee with an elementary school friend. Sometimes its hard reconnecting with old friends, but in this case it was really easy and natural. After coffee I drove back home and picked up my bicycle...once those tires are pumped I plan on biking all around this town. It even has a basket--very convenient when purchasing things and carrying around a big camera or two :)

The rest of the day was a little cloudy so I didn't have a chance to get any outdoor photographs. Tomorrow however I am going to a fair/festival thing so I plan on photographing a lot then. I wrapped up the day with a trip to 7-11 for free slurpees (they were out :( though) and some delicious chow fun and tofu! Now its time for the Harper's Island finale, yay!

Btw, is anyone else obsessed with Katy Perry's "Waking up in Vegas"? I certainly have an affinity for trashy music...

So here's my first little editorial...its so fun to dress up and play these crazy characters. I can't even imagine how much fun it would be to have real makeup artists and stylists on hand for editorial shoots.

I took a hint from Raez of Cheap Thrills and applied some major eyebrows for this shoot. I remember when I was younger, I went to a makeover birthday party and one of the women doing the makeup wanted to see what I looked like with brows (since it was summer and my brows were bleached out) so she drew on these heinous brown caterpillars...yuck! However, nowadays I think having thick/dark eyebrows make a strong statement. I will forever envy Ali Michael for her amazing eyebrows ;)

If you all have any ideas for a good editorial theme, let me know.

I went for a walk yesterday with my beautiful new camera ( an amazing birthday present from my mom and dad) and exercised my shutter release for some outfit shots. It was certainly a gorgeous day, however it was muggy and, as evident on my legs, the air was thick with mosquitos. I think I must have really sweet blood.

I think the blog is going to have a bit of a makeover in the coming weeks. Having a quality camera makes life so much easier and so much more fun. I'm bursting with time and ideas so expect a lot of my own photography and outfit posts and documentation of my life (along with the usual of course). I just need to gather up some models. I don't want to be the only one in front of the lense...

I had a little photo shoot today with the help of Elizabeth.

I was kind of inspired by the shots by Corrine Day and Sofia Coppola on the set of The Virgin Suicides. You know, those dreamy sun-filtered photographs where Lux and the sisters playfully spin and frolic happily for the camera in fields of grass. It felt like one of those days; the heat, the humidity, the old-school rock playing in my car.

I plan on spending the remainder of my night rolling coins and watching The Craft on dvd. Oh, and contemplating what to wear tomorrow night at my friend Lorraine's fancy welcome home party. That lucky duck just got back from 3 weeks of fun in Greece!

I watched an incredible movie last night, Let the Right One In. Its a swedish movie about a 12-year-old boy, Oskar and the 12-year-old vampire girl, Eli, who he falls in love with.

Possibly one of the sweetest, and most hauntingly disturbing movies I've seen. It is gorgeous and quiet and peaceful while also being dark and terrifying and eerie. I love a film thats beautiful to look at, as well as being interesting and thoughtful.

I wore one of the new shirts I got yesterday while at the mall with my mom and my sister. I knew I had to have this shirt the first time I saw it, its kind of a combination of everything (fashion-wise) that I envision for this summer. Crop top, check. Native American imagery, check. Wolves, check. (For some reason I have a new fascination with anything wolf related nowadays? Can't really explain that one.)

I spent the day frantically searching for a summer job only to come to the realization that this is an impossible feat. There are no summer jobs. Therefore, I am jumping on the bandwagon and expunging my wardrobe via either etsy or ebay. I think I have a good amount of fashion treasures that just no longer work in my wardrobe and hopefully someone else will fall in love with them :) I'll let you all know when I put everything up.

The rest of my evening was spent in a joyous event...watching Ryan Reynolds and laughing uncontrollably at Sandra Bullock singing "Get Low" by Lil' Jon while doing a Native American spirit dance. Yes, I was watching The Proposal, and it was even better than I expected. Afterwards was delicious banana frozen yougurt with fresh strawberries from Yogen Fruz and now I am happily at home listening to my summer playlist.

My day was fairly low-key seeing as I don't have a job yet :( I went running around noon and boy was it hot! Adding together my complete lack of running capability and the sweltering heat and that equaled me not fairing so well, but I did manage to get more of a workout in later on in the day when I had a mini one-person dance party in my room to the song "Let It Rock" by Kevin Rudolf. I have to say I am a sucker for that song, its just so catchy and it has such a good dance beat.

After my first workout in eons, I dropped my sis off at the bus stop and then stopped at an international supermarket on my way home. Thats where I picked up these amazing Asian goodies. I love Asian candies and snacks :) Yay for yan yan!

The rest of the day was spent with laundry, and old episodes of One Tree Hill, The OC, and Beverly Hills 90210 on Soapnet. So good. I think I might want to get into the original 90210, Dylan's such a hunk!

I found these lovely pieces in my mother's jewelry box. Of course they are just on lend (as she likes to remind me) but they are a nice little addition to my daily jewelry for the time being.
(ring and bracelet from India, and the cross necklace is unknown but was my mother's when she was 12)

My mom bought me some Urban Decay glitter eyeliner, which I plan to use as body glitter as well.

A little view of my desk/perfume counter.
I only really wear the Marc jacobs "daisy", and occasionally the Vera Wang "princess", but I inherited all of my grandmother's antique perfume samples and bottles. They really are just the sweetest things...even if they do stink up the whole house and induce killer headaches when opened.

In relation to my prior post concering casual dressing, I decided to wear this today.

I liked how Kristen Stewart knotted her oversized tshirt to add a little more interest and 90's flair, hence my knotted v-neck pocket tee.

These ladies all possess an inherent sense of style that is all about comfort and ease.

Kristen, Daria, Ali and Kirsten Dunst all follow a sort of personal uniform. For Kristen Stewart it is skinny jeans, t-shirts, layered friendship bracelets, leather jackets, raybans and sneakers. For Daria its baggy jeans, plaid shirts, high tops, and vintage tees. Ali Michael sports the classic model uniform of all black: skinny pants, flat boots, and sleek leather jackets. And finally, Kirsten Dunst wears a very casual uniform. She doesn't accessorize too much and she tends to wear jeans, t-shirt dresses, converse and flat boots often.

Behati and Coco Sumner are a little more adventurous. They mix and match and wear lots of patterns, and funky combinations.

I love each girls style for different reasons, but what I like about their style in general is the carefree feeling they possess when dressing. Sometimes we get so caught up in picking the perfect thing and trying to look the most original that it becomes overwhelming to get dressed. I've often tried on 10 outfits and never been satisfied with what I am wearing, but these girls make me realize that sometimes its ok to follow a uniform, or to dress casually. The classic combo of jeans and a t-shirt can be fashionable.

Angela: What's amazing is when you can feel your life going somewhere. Like, your life just figured out how to get good. Like, that second.

I have spent the last three days obssessively watching my sister's dvds of My So-Called Life and now that I have run out of episodes I am entirely depressed. I knew before I even started watching that it was cancelled after only one season, I knew that I would become attached to the characters and fall deeply in love with Jordan Catalano, but somehow I couldn't keep myself from watching for much longer. I knew I was missing out on something great.

And indeed I was. I now foster a crush (which is 15 years too late mind you) on Jared Leto. I care about Rickie and Angela and Rayanne and Brian. I am in awe of the amazing storytelling and writing of this show. Its hard to believe how painfully honest and truthful some of Angela's (Claire Danes) narrative voice-overs are. My So-Called Life makes you realize how no other "teen" television show today or in recent years in any way lives up to the glory of this show. Watch it and be amazed.

P.S- Claire Danes' dance scene to "Blister in the Sun" is brilliant.

I am still in the process of moving and unpacking, however my shoes got first-class treatment. I love the gorgeous shelves of shoes spotted in the closets of Julia Restoin Roitfeld and many a fashionista, so I couldn't help myself when I found this bookshelf.
